The Executive Committee (Exec) is a dynamic team of motivated professionals, er students, that run the club. This organizing powerhouse meet regularly to discuss any arising issues and are responsible for all optimizing aspects of the club, including organising the trips and socials, the safety of club members on all activities, liaising with the SU regarding activities, finance etc and dealing with all of the administration for the club. As The Backpackers is a relatively small club, the Exec are very open to any suggestions from members with regard to the running of the club. A new Exec is voted for by club members at the end of the start of the Lent term term each year. The Executive is here to provide a club for the students that will be safe and enjoyable.
The Exec for 2005-2006 are:
EL PRESIDENTE	Laura Halford
	Laura is the interpid president of the Backpackers' Association. She took up the reins from her predecessor determined to keep the club going through thick and thin and uphold the Backpackers' ethos. The Duracell Bunny was modelled on Laura: there isn't a scramble hard enough or hill steep enough to stop her running circles around everyone else - talk about leading by example!!
THE SECRETARY/SAFETY OFFICER	Thomas Bown
	Thomas has "Safety" written all over him (unless he's showered after that time he fell asleep at the pub). At a recent First Aid training course, he had to be crowbarred off the dummy as he was determined to get her to breathe. "I'm not giving up on you goddamit!!". Don't let his safety-conscious image fool you however, he practically cartwheeled his way across Striding Edge when it was frozen over. This boy has 'cojones'!
THE TREASURER / SOCIAL SEC	Nathan Davies
	"The money's all mine, MINE I tell you!!". Nathan is a former president of the society, however he's just so stumped for things to do he decided to rejoin the exec as the treasurer. Multitasking Nathan also doubles as the organizer of weird and wonderful socials that put all the less imaginative societies to shame!
THE Webmaster	Mr X
	Mr X is the mysterious 'Stig' figure of the club. He never comes on trips, but mysteriously the website is always top-notch and he also knows what's going on... There is a reward out for finding out who this guy/gal is!
